On the Closing of a [Lanark] Leisure Centre
Glasgow, 2017

On the Closing of a [Lanark] Leisure Centre asked writers & collaborators to respond to the closing of a fictional leisure centre, and the simultaneous opening of a leisure complex formed entirely as a collective linguistic space. In responding, the writers both formed the collective and critiqued its modes of operating, and questioned the relation between location and language.

The texts were exhibited on rotation, alongside a reformatted sports banner donated by an anonymous sports club, and a sculpture made from materials somewhere between construction and play.

Collaborators: Sonia Bernac, Sean Burns, Lou Cantor, Seán Elder, Molly Richards
Curated by Laura O’Leary
